Miscellaneous bits of news and fun stuff from around the Internet...

...The TV-movie THE TWO WORLDS OF JENNIE LOGAN (1979), which was announced as an upcoming DVD release last March, was finally released last week. I remember this Lindsay Wagner film fondly and look forward to seeing it again.

...The TV series FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS will come to an end at the conclusion of its current fifth season.

...Kathryn Grayson's longtime home in Santa Monica is for sale. It can be yours for a mere $8.9 million. Photos have been posted on the web.

...The British cover of Nigella Lawson's KITCHEN: RECIPES FROM THE HEART OF THE HOME is now available. The U.K. release is September 2, and it will debut in the U.S. on October 12th.

...Stan Chambers, a reporter for KTLA News in Los Angeles since 1947, has announced his retirement. You read that correctly, he's been at the station for 63 years! It's truly the end of an era.

...Vivien Leigh's GWTW dresses are in need of restoration.

...A new Universal Backlot DVD collection is coming November 2nd, this time with six Bing Crosby films. I'll post more information and the cover art when it's available.

...Dave Kehr of the New York Times has reviewed the new Errol Flynn Adventures DVD set, and posted a bit more on his blog.

...A Pop-Tarts store at Times Square?!

...Where Danger Lives has reviewed the new DVD release APPOINTMENT WITH DANGER (1951).

...The latest reviews by Glenn Erickson include UNION STATION (1951), NO ORCHIDS FOR MISS BLANDISH (1948), and PANDORA AND THE FLYING DUTCHMAN (1951). The PANDORA review is of a Blu-Ray release but much of the review is still relevant for those of us who don't have (and don't intend to buy) a Blu-Ray player. MISS BLANDISH sounds intriguingly crazy.

...There's video on YouTube of Jane Powell reunited with two of her SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS (1954) costars, Virginia Gibson and Norma Doggett. More video of Norma is here. Incidentally, Marc Platt, who danced the role of Daniel, will be 97 in December. Most of the cast is still alive, excepting Howard Keel, Jeff Richards, and Betty Carr.

...There have been some great political columns this week, by Fouad Ajami, Peter Kirsanow, Peter Wehner, Mark Tapscott, and Power Line's Scott Johnson.

...50 Westerns From the 50s has thoughts on Tim Holt, whose B Westerns will be spotlighted on TCM September 14th.

...Rumor has it that Reese Witherspoon will be playing Peggy Lee on film. Witherspoon has also been mentioned as a possibility to play Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman, on screen.

Have a great weekend!
