Ilene Woods, who performed the speaking and singing voice for Disney's CINDERELLA (1950), has passed away at the age of 81.
Miss Woods died on July 1st.
Ilene Woods won the role of Cinderella after making demo recordings of the film's songs for her friends, composers Jerry Livingston and Mack David.
Woods was named a Disney Legend in 2003.
A fun bit of trivia is that a newscaster in Disney's ENCHANTED (2007) was named Mary Ilene Caselotti, paying tribute to the women who were the voices of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White.
Woods is survived by her husband, former TONIGHT SHOW drummer Ed Shaughnessy, children and grandchildren.
In 2006 Miss Woods was quoted as saying "I love the idea that after I'm gone, children will still be hearing my voice."
Update: A remembrance from D23.
