It's a bit ironic that my previous post was titled "True Class," because I just learned that a gentleman who epitomized class has passed on.
The legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden has passed away at the age of 99.
I was too young to appreciate his amazing string of basketball championships at UCLA, but over the years I have read countless stories about Wooden's character and kindness. I know sports fans all over California will be deeply mourning his passing while celebrating a long life, well lived.
Update: More details here, here, and here. A group of over 500 students gathered for a vigil tonight outside the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where Coach Wooden passed away.
