Info Post
MousePlanet has the wonderful news that the Sherman Brothers will be honored with the dedication of a window on Disneyland's Main Street USA this week.

Richard and Robert Sherman wrote the superb score for Disney's MARY POPPINS (1964), including the Oscar-winning "Chim Chim Cher-ee." They also wrote the scores for THE PARENT TRAP (1961), THE JUNGLE BOOK (1967), and many other films. Their contributions to Disneyland and other Disney theme parks include "The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room" at the Enchanted Tiki Room, "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" for the Carousel of Progress, and "It's a Small World."

As MousePlanet says, "Music from the Academy Award-winning pair can be heard in every Disney Resort around the world."

The stories behind Disney's tribute windows are described in an enjoyable little book, WINDOWS ON MAIN STREET by Chuck Snyder.

I'd love to see the recent documentary THE BOYS: THE SHERMAN BROTHERS' STORY (2009). According to the Ultimate Disney DVD release schedule, THE BOYS is expected to have a DVD release at some point, along with the documentaries WALT AND EL GRUPO (2009) and WAKING SLEEPING BEAUTY (2009).

March 11th Update: Details on the ceremony are posted here.

March 18th Update: I've now posted my own photos of the Sherman Brothers' window.
