Richard and Robert Sherman were honored today at Disneyland. Richard Sherman was present for today's ceremony.
As mentioned here last Monday, a window on Main Street USA was dedicated to the brothers, composers of some of Disney's most memorable songs. Over the decades Main Street windows at Disney theme parks have been dedicated to those who played the most significant roles in park history.
The window is on a door of the 20th Century Music Company store. The faux advertisement reads "Two Brothers Tune Makers. Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, proprietors."
The Orange County Register has excellent coverage of the event, including a slideshow, in their "Around Disney" column.
Another story is at the official Disney Parks blog (click the title of this post); the Disney blog also has video of the ceremony.
A wonderful honor which is very much deserved; the only surprise is that the legendary Shermans hadn't been honored previously.
March 15th Update: MousePlanet has many more details on the ceremony.
For those who might have been curious about Robert Sherman's absence, he was unable to travel from his home in London to attend last week's event and provided a recorded message of appreciation which was played at the ceremony.
March 18th Update: I have now posted my own photos of the door and tribute window.
